whoo hoo go new participant! i always enjoy browsing through other people's update diary entries.

sowing/planting:
- planting: greek basil
- maintenance: lots of watering and mulching. in an attack of the cunning, i weeded the veggie patch while everything was weak from the heat, then arranged the solaring plastic sheets to better kill the grass around the vegetables. in an attack of the not so cunning, remembered i have a big sheet of shadecloth after the recent heatwaves ended
- harvesting: cherry tomatoes
-observing: garden hit hard but going strong as long as i keep remembering to water

working for the future:
- bottled up a batch of ginger beer. i'm keeping a plant alive that a friend gave me, and experimenting with feeding it using ground up ginger as well as powdered ginger
- doing more physical exercise. working hard at yoga, more walking, move moving, still keeping a close eye on my posture
- oiled up my bike and went for a ride with a friend! hooray! i'll be doing that again, i think

planning for the future:
- rearranging the outdoor furniture in my head. measured up the bbq, planting trolleys, plant shelves, trestle tables, outdoor dining table...
- put my hand up for a first aid course going at work
- made lists of all the people i spend time with regularly, and all the activities i do regularly. thought hard about where my priorities are and what i will be devoting energy to this year

creating community:
- helped belinda & andrew fire-ready their home
- looked after my sister's cat and garden while she was on holiday
- attended a clothes swap at work organised by one of the students
- organised a phd support group
- putting a lot of energy into social structures that enable the men's group recently started by a friend
- facilitated a discussion group
- caught up with people from overseas and interstate
- making an effort to keep up my end of correspondence with those i care about far away
- donated money and goods to the fire relief efforts
- attended a life modelling workshop and talked at length with the organiser
- saw my sister's band play at the pub with some friends
- encouraged a friend to come to my yoga class
- creating interesting links among my friendship groups

new skill:
- rather than fight (and lose) strong destructive patterns, i'm subverting the power of existing patterns to do more useful work. trial 1: every time i find myself biting my nails, i do a round of strengthening exercise instead
- being more honest, communicative and connected with the people in my life
- belief in my capabilities

- maintenance: weeding, clear up, bit of mowing, edging.

working for the future:
- Set water system to water from pool to orchard.

creating community:
- Got angry at people from work. I think this is the best category for it, seriously.

Great work, I can see lots of achievement in both of those lists.
