Back to Basics - Week 23



Sowing seed or Planting -

Harvest
  • 4.168kg tomato
  • 746g zucchini/squash


Planning for The Future -
  • Put name down on waiting list for more chickens late winter/early spring
  • inventoried current stores
Working for the Future -
  • Bottled pasta sauce
  • Semi dried Tomatoes
  • Ordered bulk Flour for baking
Building Community -
  • Made Pancakes for Mt Districts Permaculture Fundraiser at Petty's Orchard.
  • Attended Earth Hour party held by a good friend
  • Donated soap to go in a Thankyou Baskets
Learn a new Skill -
  • How not to make pancakes

you really harvested that much tomato & zucchini in a week? cool! i gotta get off my arse and start doing posts.

what happened with the pancakes? they were looking so promising!

Yeah, we really harvested that much zucchini and tomato in a week. The tomatoes are in full swing here right now, I expect I have a week or so of this level of production before things start to tail off quite quickly.

Main problem with pancakes was that I haven't done it enough and I didn't have the right equipment with me to make the job easier. The fact we had very little trade for the day as numbers were significantly down on last year meant we were better off sticking with the stuff Michelle was used to working with.. at this point she may have very drunk chickens because I sent the excess starter home with her.
