Jenny Wren's Pin Wheels

Well, it's done.

The first hand crafted Christmas present of the year is finished. Hopefully these 4 little pin wheels , originally designed by Jenny Wren, will capture the imagination and fill the young recipient with delight.

It's not going to be a large or impressive gift but it is full of thought and love.

How are your thrifty gifts coming?

Hi Belinda,

Thank you for giving me the idea for a birthday present for my friend's daughter. She'll be 2 in Feb. The best thing is that they look swallow proof (long story).

My little project is proving to be a handful. The rest of my gift making has kind of stalled. No pressure though, I only have 2 months left.

I made these last week with a group of 7 - 9 year olds. They loved them. We used bright colours and sewed a button in the centre.

Hi Nevyn,

I would be a little careful on the whole swallow proof bit. A bobby pin would probably be a challenge for a 2 yr old to swallow. I have seen 2 year olds do amazing things at times.

Sometimes I find I need to put a project down for a bit when it gets sticky. Doing a couple of reasonably quick and easy projects often does me wonders when I hit a stumbling block.

Hi Crunchies Mum,
It really would be a wonderful project for that age group. I can just imagine the excitement in the room.

Kind Regards
Belinda
