Morning Harvest Basket

Walking around the garden this morning I realised it will be the last time I will get to do this for over a week.

It is always fun and exciting to be going away but this morning I felt the need to really connect back to home. Before the continued rush to get everything organised I wandered around with my harvest basket picking the stuff that was ready. Slowly noting what the garden was telling me about the season and enjoying the soft morning sun as it settled on my skin.

That is what I love about home, it's always here when you need it most.

I think the best thing about having your Christmas in the summer is that you are getting all the best produce in right on time for the celebrations.

That is a pretty harvest!

It's funny but until recently almost every Aussie family did roast Turkey with Plum Pudding for Christmas lunch. It seems it took us English transplants quite a while to work out that eating seasonal for this continent is probably a better idea. Particularly on the years when it is 40C and the idea of turning on an oven is the most insane thing you could imagine.

I have to say those raspberries are my dream come true. There really is nothing quite like walking out the back door to pick berries for breakfast.

Kind Regards
Belinda
