This is a space where a couple of my closest family and I share our thoughts, triumphs and occasionally our spectacular failures.
I hope you all enjoy our journey
We lost 3 delightful chickens and a duck last night to a fox. I'll be back when I am feeling a little happier with the world.

I am so sad for your lost girls. I lost one of my chickies this summer to an evil raccoon, and she is still missed. I hope your remaining flock brings some solace.
Unfortunately that leaves us with just one lonely pekin. We are trying to find her some buddies right away as being alone is not good for her or the neighbours.
I really appreciate your support. We are feeling pretty down about it.
The plan right now is to do some redesigning of their containment area's to increase security in the future. I can't change the mistakes of the past but I can choose not to repeat them in the future.
Oh, Belinda, I know how that feels. I'm so sorry. Despite our best efforts to keep our chookies safe, sometimes nature will have it's way, but it's hard not to blame yourself. It's so sad...
I found a buddy for the pekin today. Nothing quite like a mad scramble to buy poultry when the breeding season has only just started.. at least it's a little earlier with ducks.
@Greenfumb,
Sorry to hear one of your girls had to be put down.. they are different but having the need to put one down is just the pitts.
Sorry to hear about your chooks and duck. We lost a couple of chickens and our drake to night raids couple of years ago. You try to tell yourself that these things happen but it doesn't really make you feel any better.

Oh Belinda! *huge hugs*
Thanks Herby
Oh how devastating :-( Thinking of you and your poor lonely Pekin, and hoping some new members of the flock will cheer you up a little...
Oh you poor thing, how awful for you. Those bloody poms and their hunting have a lot to answer for! you pekin must be so lonely.
I had to have one of mine put down today, so I do know how you feel a little bit :-(
Horrific news. Hugs Belinda. So sorry.

Oh Belinda - that's terrible :-( My heart goes out to you. Glad to hear you have found one little friend for your Pekin.
How horribly sad!! I'm so sorry you lost your birds.
