The anticipation of an imminent Umbel sets the scene for delight
as Carrots, step out on show
and Parsley, aims for the stars
whilst Parsnip worships the sun.
This is a space where a couple of my closest family and I share our thoughts, triumphs and occasionally our spectacular failures. I hope you all enjoy our journey

You must have a great deal of patience Belinda. No carrot or parsnip ever went to seed at my house, they hardly ever get past finger size because I have no patience.
What's Umbel?
Pretty! What is an Umbel?? Will have to look that up!!
Oh,
um·bel (um′bəl)
noun
a cluster of flowers with stalks of nearly equal length which spring from about the same point, like the ribs of an umbrella
Origin: L umbella, parasol: see umbrella
adjective
designating a family (Apiaceae, order Apiales) of hollow-stemmed, herbaceous, dicotyledonous plants having umbels, including celery and parsley
noun
A flat-topped or rounded flower cluster in which the individual flower stalks arise from about the same point, as in the geranium, milkweed, onion, and chive.
Origin: New Latin umbella, from Latin, parasol, diminutive of umbra, shadow
Hi Greenfumb,
Let's call it forward planning rather than patience. Anything in my garden that self seeds is something I don't have to worry about, and well I sorta like my growing that way when I have a chance :-)
Hi Dixiebelle,
Yep, you got it. For me they are definitely the most showy vegetable flower type.
Kind Regards
Belinda
